Set in rural Japanese, this gritty, taboo-driven novel follows Red, a crude and horny city-bred boy, as he visits an elderly couple to help them with the farm for a week. His grandfather, Hiroshi—a slightly deaf, short-sighted, and oblivious old farmer tasks him with fieldwork, while his grandmother, Yuko a shy, voluptuous, and sexually neglected housewife becomes the target of Red’s relentless lust. What starts as teasing and groping escalates over the next days into a depraved affair, with Red exploiting Yuko’s inexperience and Hiroshi’s unawareness to push her boundaries.​
